My retirement, my choice! (II)

PowerLine: Are the Feds Trying to Nationalize Your Retirement Savings?:
For some time, there have been rumblings that the federal government might try to solve its budgetary problems by nationalizing (i.e., stealing) the money that millions of Americans have set aside for retirement in 401(k) plans and the like. One way they might do this is to confiscate the cash on hand in exchange for a promise to make future payments in the form of an 'annuity.' An involuntary annuity, in that scenario.
Et cetera.

Investor's Business Daily:  Coming after Your 401(k)?
Government Retirement: Democrats have obliquely admitted they covet Americans' pensions. Last week, congressional Republicans told them to stay away. The shame is that they had to do anything at all.
The first rumblings were heard in the 1990s, when Democrats were said to be coming after our retirement accounts. Back then, the warnings were easy to pass off as hyperbole or a cranky conspiracy theory. Today, they pass as prescient.

If they can't tax it they'll just steal it.
