GOAL Election Alert #2 (Washington State)

Tuesday is the Primary election is Washington State. (What? In August? WA no longer has a Presidential Primary.) Here are the Gun Owner Action League of Washington's endorsements

SUBJECT: GOAL Election Alert #2

The following candidates have been endorsed by the GOAL trustees for election to the office indicated.  Note that in a few cases, we have made dual endorsements -- more than one candidate.  That means in our opinion, either candidate would best represent the interests of gun owners in the office for which recommended.

Note we have not made recommendations in several races.  We're still working to identify candidates' position on our issue.

We have also not made any judicial recommendations, with the exception of RICHARD SANDERS FOR SUPREME COURT JUSTICE, POSITION #9.   Justice Sanders has a long record of protecting the rights of gun owners, going back to his days in private practice when he represented the Second Amendment Foundation.

Most Washington judges claim that they are not allowed to state positions or opinions on issues, lest they be forced to recuse themselves from any case involving that issue.  The best we can suggest is that you look at judicial candidates mailings, or their web sites, and look at who has endorsed them.  You can learn a lot about where an individual is coming from, or where he or she will go, based on who are his friends.

At this time we have not made a recommendation for President, as neither party has formally proposed a candidate.  That will come later this month, in Tampa and in Charlotte.  We will endorse a presidential candidate at that time.
The question always comes up, so I'll try to answer it before it is asked:  Why have you endorsed 15 Democrats?  Don't Democrats vote against gun owners?
The short answer is, "Not always."  As a general rule, Republicans vote pro-gun, and Democrats anti-gun, but that doesn't always hold true.  There are exceptions on both sides of the aisle.

The Democrats have controlled the entire legislative process in Olympia for more than a decade now.  If all Democrats were anti-gun, we would have lost state preemption, gun shows, "assault weapons," and large capacity magazines by now,  We would be facing mandatory trigger locks and several other restrictions on when, where and how we can use our firearms.

What stopped them from accomplishing that freedom-killing agenda was a handful of righteous Democrats -- Democrat Representatives and Senators who upheld their oath of office, who stood up for their constituents, and who had the courage to "just say NO" to their leadership when various gun control bills came up.  We owe these Democrats a lot, to include our votes.

We kept the formatting simple, so the entire list is a long one.  We suggest you print only those pages that apply to your location.

A final GOAL endorsement list for the general election will be published in October.
