Why we can't have nice things

Or: Sometimes the Jackassery is on our side.

So, big rally in Olympia yesterday against I594, as mentioned here and here. We did not attend because of the creeping crud, and also because Mrs. Drang needs to concentrate on her job search.

But.

Anette and Barron were there and I am sure will have posts up soon, if they're not up even as I type. Much material has been posted on Facespace, and in the press.

"Gun owners display their weapons in the upper gallery of the House chambers, Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at the Capitol in Olympia, Wash. The House was not in session when this photo was taken, and members of the group went to the gallery following a protest outside the Legislative building...". TED S. WARREN — AP Photo

To that above photo, I wish to add that according to witnesses, a member of the State Patrol told these Threeper Gun Cosplayers that they were about to be arrested for brandishing, "NOT for violating 594."

Amazingly, that AP file quotes Adina Hicks, not any of the gun banners. (The Seattle Times story does quote the gun banners.) The AP also has quotes from two pro-gun legislators. It also quotes the Democratic majority leader who wants to use these jack wagons as an excuse to get legally armed citizens banned from the legislative chambers.

Like I said, Why We Can't Have Nice Things.

On Facebook, there is speculation that some of these dipsticks are plants, agents provocateur. I think they're just attention starved children. "Look at me!" These are the same damnfools who get Open Carry banned because, as Tamara puts it, they don't just carry they carry at people. They are so fucking stupid they cannot grasp the fact that aggressive proselytizing alienates people, and makes enemies.

See: Jokes about
"How do you know if someone is a vegan/does crossfit/carries a Glock?"
"Don't worry, they'll tell you."
Look if you want to do historical re-enactment more power to you, I've done that on a small scale when I was heavily into muzzleloading. Lots of fun for the whole family, and educational to boot.

But when we're talking to our legislators, it's time to put the cosplay away and act like an adult.

If you can't do that, you may get the attention you want, but it's attention our side cannot afford!

If you can't grasp that simple fact, then stay the hell of my side.
