A note on geography

As many I was deeply shocked by the tragedy that occurred in Boston earlier this month. It was a stark reminder of the fact that any of us could be a victim of senseless violence anywhere at any moment.
As more information on the origin of the alleged perpetrators is coming to light, I am concerned to note in the social media a most unfortunate misunderstanding in this respect. The Czech Republic and Chechnya are two very different entities - the Czech Republic is a Central European country; Chechnya is a part of the Russian Federation.
As the President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman noted in his message to President Obama, the Czech Republic is an active and reliable partner of the United States in the fight against terrorism. We are determined to stand side by side with our allies in this respect, there is no doubt about that.

So, following a link from Tam and through Roberta, I learned that, indeed, the US Government does have a blog of it's own.
Here's the header for the web pages of domain "USA.gov":

Didn't you always suspect they read "Government For Dummies?" and thought the cartoons were "How-to's", not mockery?
And how much does the job of "Government Blogger" pay?

Because, while I'd be lying if I claimed that I'd never. Come up with one like this, Mrs. Drang will confirm that I'd never inflict it on the public except under unusual circumstances:

The Morning After The Feast Before
Yesterday afternoon Mrs. Drang discovered that we had run out of some key ingredient for Thanksgiving dinner , and I needed to run to the store and get more.
While there, I wandered by the bakery department and picked up some scones for breakfast.
But Mrs. Dang doesn't want a scone, so I guess sconers strive in vain.
(Do you gain or lose points if the bad pun is obscure...?)(And I should have gone on about how they processed the makings so well, they were so light and airy, but "Sconers sieve in vain." Darn.)
