Here in Long Beach...

...we have a nice view of the beach. It's a nice beach, if your definition of "nice beach" includes water too cold, and currents too high, for safe swimming.

No idea whether this is true

or just Chamber of Commerce/Tourism Board Boosterism.
But we can see the surf from the hot tub on the veranda

(notice the brown water; the currents are so strong sand gets caught up in the breakers)
and the sunsets.

As for my previous post, it's entirely possible that there is a gun store in Long Beach, or one of the other communities on the Long Beach Peninsula, and I haven't found it. (Map of the Long Beach Peninsula here. Long Beach is about 30 minutes from Astoria, OR.)

OTOH, we did go into Dennis Company, an honest-to Ghu General Store, and their ammunition cabinet was pretty well stocked. Of course, they were sold out of pistol calibers, and stocked mostly deer/elk hunting calibers, but they were looking OK. And, hey, I love a store where 75% of the men's wear is by Carhart, and the rest (not counting touristy tee- and sweat-shirts) are by Dickies and Columbia. (Well, OK, they had a rack with maybe a dozen neckties...)
