The Latest Larry Correia Rant

DO I UNFAIRLY PAINT THE LEFT WITH A BROAD BRUSH?

...I’m talking about YOU. Regular people. Voters. The guy next door. The masses on the internet. Just average joes. Democrats. Libs. Whatever you call yourself. Anybody who identifies as being on the left.

When your leaders pick a narrative, you drink that Kool-Aid. Even if it’s shit flavored Kool-Aid, most of you smile and tell us it’s the best fucking Kool-Aid you’ve ever tasted. It’s milk from the teat of a magic cherry flavored Unicorn. Nope. It’s shit. You all know it’s shit. But you go along with the narrative anyway.

When the insane progs among you lie their asses off, I’m talking blatant, easily disproven, painfully ham-fisted, fucking LIES… Do you call them out? Do you say, “hang on guys, that’s a little nuts”. Because if you do, the rest of us sure as fuck don’t ever see it. Pick a topic, any topic. It’s always the same.

Read the whole thing. When I got to that part, though, I laughed out loud, woke Mrs. Drang up from her  migraine-induced snooze, and further disturbed her by reading the entire thing out loud. She hasn't objected, so I guess she agrees. Either that. or she has Plans for tonight while I'm sleeping.

(Actually, i know she agrees because she started talking Seattle politics...)

Crazy Eddie, I tell you!

Los Angeles Will Fine Cargo Ships That Can't Unload

Because it's OBVIOUSLY their fault...

Los Angeles ports will fine cargo ships waiting to unload their goods in an attempt to relieve congestion that is as desperate as it is gobsmackingly stupid.

It’s a fine so pointless and wrong that, of course, Presidentish Joe Biden has chimed in with his support for it.

According to CNBC, the White House is “hopeful” that fines will “ease the intensifying logjam of cargo ships” waiting to unload at Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles. Together, the two account for 40% of the country’s seaborne imports.

Carriers will have to pay “$100 per day for each container lingering past a given timeline” starting on the first of the month. Containers moved by truck will have nine days before they’ll start paying, and containers moved by rail will have just three days.

"Real Capitalism Has Never Been Tried"

White House moves to reshape role of US capitalism

The White House is pushing an infrastructure bill that could reshape the discussion around capitalism as it seems to reestablish the federal government as a primary driver of how the economy should grow and function.

In addition to traditional infrastructure projects, Biden’s $2.25 trillion American Jobs Plan would make government investments in broadband, electric vehicles, climate change, elderly care, child benefits, housing and developing future technologies.

It would redefine classic infrastructure projects to include investments in workers and families paid for by tax hikes on corporations.

This would not be "capitalism."

An economic system in which the means of production are privately owned, but actual production is controlled or dictated by the government is called... fascism.

You commie fucks.

Read All About It!

This is all over MeWe and Gab already, but on the of chance you haven't sen it, Time Magazine just published what amounts to a SuperVillain Monologue that details how the presidential election of 2020 was rigged.

Oh, wait. How the Presidential Election of 2020 was fortified to ensure that Democracy was saved

The Secret History of the Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election

Interestingly, that's the way the title on the web page reads, but the tab calls it "The Secret Bipartisan Campaign..."

There was a conspiracy unfolding behind the scenes, one that both curtailed the protests and coordinated the resistance from CEOs. Both surprises were the result of an informal alliance between left-wing activists and business titans. The pact was formalized in a terse, little-noticed joint statement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and AFL-CIO published on Election Day. Both sides would come to see it as a sort of implicit bargain–inspired by the summer’s massive, sometimes destructive racial-justice protests–in which the forces of labor came together with the forces of capital to keep the peace and oppose Trump’s assault on democracy.

The handshake between business and labor was just one component of a vast, cross-partisan campaign to protect the election–an extraordinary shadow effort dedicated not to winning the vote but to ensuring it would be free and fair, credible and uncorrupted. For more than a year, a loosely organized coalition of operatives scrambled to shore up America’s institutions as they came under simultaneous attack from a remorseless pandemic and an autocratically inclined President. Though much of this activity took place on the left, it was separate from the Biden campaign and crossed ideological lines, with crucial contributions by nonpartisan and conservative actors. The scenario the shadow campaigners were desperate to stop was not a Trump victory. It was an election so calamitous that no result could be discerned at all, a failure of the central act of democratic self-governance that has been a hallmark of America since its founding.

Their work touched every aspect of the election. They got states to change voting systems and laws and helped secure hundreds of millions in public and private funding. They fended off voter-suppression lawsuits, recruited armies of poll workers and got millions of people to vote by mail for the first time. They successfully pressured social media companies to take a harder line against disinformation and used data-driven strategies to fight viral smears. They executed national public-awareness campaigns that helped Americans understand how the vote count would unfold over days or weeks, preventing Trump’s conspiracy theories and false claims of victory from getting more traction. After Election Day, they monitored every pressure point to ensure that Trump could not overturn the result. “The untold story of the election is the thousands of people of both parties who accomplished the triumph of American democracy at its very foundation,” says Norm Eisen, a prominent lawyer and former Obama Administration official who recruited Republicans and Democrats to the board of the Voter Protection Program.

But's was okay, because Trump did it first by saying mail-in ballots were insecure.

Thought For The Day

“Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.”
Frank Herbert, Dune

I have been wondering if the Butlerian Jihad is going to begin earlier, and look different, than Herbert thought...

Whatever it was...

 ..it wasn't a coup.

Not even an attempted coup.

Mises Wire: The Capitol Riot Wasn’t a Coup. It Wasn't Even Close.

What Is a Coup?

A gang of disorganized, powerless mechanics, janitors, and insurance agents running through the Capitol isn’t a coup. And if it was a coup attempt, it was so far from anything that might hope to succeed as a coup that it should not be taken seriously as such.

So how do we know a coup when we see one?

In their article “Global Instances of Coups from 1950 to 2010: A New Dataset,” authors Jonathan M. Powell and Clayton L. Thyne provide a definition:

A coup attempt includes illegal and overt attempts by the military or other elites within the state apparatus to unseat the sitting executive.

There are two key components of this definition. The first is that it is illegal. Powell and Thyne note that this “illegal” qualifier is important to include "because it differentiates coups from political pressure, which is common whenever people have freedom to organize."

In other words, protests, or threats of protest don’t count as coups. Neither do legal efforts such as a vote of no confidence or an impeachment.

But an even more critical aspect of Powell and Thyne’s definition is that it requires the involvement of elites.

Thanksgiving is Canceled!

 King Jay says so!

From 11:59 PM on Monday, November 16 through Monday, December 14, all counties in Washington rollback to the restrictions outlined below...
  1. Indoor Social Gatherings with people from outside your household are prohibited unless they (a) quarantine for fourteen days (14) prior to the social gathering; or (b) quarantine for seven (7) days prior to the social gathering and receive a negative COVID-19 test result no more than 48-hours prior to the gathering. A household is defined as individuals residing in the same domicile.

I foresee widespread civil disobedience.

Also, wide-spread pearl-clutching and calls to snitch hotlines by the "caring."

Also, people thinking "Maybe I should have voted for Culp after all", as well as "This is all #OrangeManBad's fault!"

I gotta get out of this state.

#MaidenGate

UPDATE: As of 1900 hours PST L's Twitter account @SomeBitchIKnow has been suspended for "violating the Twitter rules." Apparently, her quip about "Rumors of my death should be regarded as suspicious unless they involve a jet ski" were a cry for help.

"L", (Twitter user @SomeBitchIKnow; homepage here. Her internet handle is some variation on that across platforms) has done some digging and learned that there was a concerted, organized effort across the nation to harvest votes by casting fraudulent second ballots in the maiden name of married women.

#MaidenGate is a viral hashtag uncovering a peculiar type of abuse in our elections. Some married women vote in one state, under their current name, while someone—a political predator—casts a vote in that same state or a state which the woman previously lived under a previous or maiden name.

This same technique may affect adopted persons, the divorced, people who changed their names and/or transgendered persons.

Here is L's #MaidenGate page. That page goes to a list of how to check your voter registration and ballot status in every state. (Note: Link is set to open in a new window. I am currently using the Brave browser, which does not like this page; it hangs up, and "runs out of memory." Works in Chrome, though.)

All those calls and texts Mrs. Drang was getting to check if  she was voting...? (By the way. the joke was on them: She is registered to vote under her maiden name...)

You can also use these to check voting status if you have moved a lot, but

We are not looking for individuals who have registrations in multiple states. That’s a problem but not this problem. We are not even looking for individuals who are registered multiple times in the same state. Again, a problem but not the scope of this problem. We are looking for individuals who voted in this election (or chose not to) but also had another vote cast in a previous legal name of theirs at an address they previously occupied.

For this specific issue, if you determine that you have(or someone you know has) been a victim:

➡ What you must provide in order to file a complaint:

  • Screenshot proof of where you currently are registered to vote and did you vote in this election
  • Screenshot proof of your identity (be it under your name or a past name) registration in a place you no longer reside; and that a ballot was cast.
  • You may be asked for a copy of your current identification or driver’s license

If you are able to provide this evidence, you’ll be asked to sign an affidavit, under penalty of perjury, attesting that you believe someone committed a crime against you and that you, yourself, did not commit this voter fraud

IF YOU DISCOVER THAT YOU OR SOMEONE YOU LOVE IS A VICTIM:

Please, email stopthesteal@protonmail.com

"Unity"

They're makin' a list, they're checkin' it twice...

 The Trump Accountability Project

"We must never forget those who furthered the Trump agenda.

"We should welcome in our fellow Americans with whom we differ politically.

"But those who took a paycheck from the Trump Administration should not profit from their efforts to tear our democracy apart. The world should never forget those who, when faced with a decision, chose to put their money, their time, and their reputations behind separating children from their families, encouraging racism and anti-Semitism, and negligently causing the unnecessary loss of life and economic devastation from our country's failed response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Coming together starts with acknowledging the truth: These individuals have shattered laws and norms that hurt our democracy, including right now, as they use the levers of government — DOJ, GSA and state officials — to subvert the fundamental underlying tenet that makes America what it is: The peaceful transfer of power from the loser of an election to the winner."

Because nothing says "progressive agenda" like an enemies list leading to a good Marxist purge.

Isn't that interesting... -- An Update

So, what with all the news about Hunter Biden and the while sleazy, corrupt Biden clan, and the CSPAN "journalist" confessing to lying about sending that tweet and all, it has been an interesting day or two in social media, especially if one is part of the leftist/progressive/media/DNC persuasion, and I mean "interesting" in the Chinese curse sense.

Or, of you prefer, in the US Senate accusing you of interfering with an election, and the FEC  being out for blood sense.

So I go into Twitter and I see John "Oh No!" Ringo has tweeted as follows:

(I took a "snip" and copied it in, instead of embedding the tweet, because embedding the tweet these days is... messy. Stray code all over the place. Link to the tweet here.)

So I attempted to tweet as follows: "Their brain is full?" and got:

Note the pink bar at the top...

I can't even tweet "Testing".

Have I finally reached the level of deplorableness where I am worthy of having Twitter shut me down?

Or is Twitter just so all upgefukt over the mess it has made the least few days that it is melting down?

Stay tuned!

UPDATE: apparently it was everybody, everywhere. They're "investigating."

Just coincidence it hit right as they were discovering the Streisand Effect

Sure, let's go with that.

Another Update, 09/17

SO, now that we're sharing our smoke with the rest of the country...

...here's what it looks like in front of Schloss Drang right now:

©2020, D.W.Drang & The Cluemeter
So we thought it was going to clear by today. Turns out that what rain we got is not at high enough altitudes to do the trick, and more importantly, was not accompanied by winds strong enough to do it.

Despite that nearly "zero-zero" visibility at surface level, air quality as reported by WA Air Quality Monitoring and the Washington Smoke Blog has improved from "Hazardous" to "merely" "Unhealthy" or even "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" throughout much of the state.

Huzzah, and all that.

The WA Smoke Blog has several blogposts over the past few days that review the data, and also reports that Seattle has had some of the worst air quality in the world the last week or so.

I believe that we need to emphasize that, yes, this is the worst air quality on record, but the record goes back a whopping 20 years, so several grains of salt may be in order.

Cliff Mass is a meteorologist, and professor of meteorology at the University of Washington*. He has a blog: Cliff Mass Weather Blog. The topic of his post for the day is The Extraordinary Longevity of Wildfire Smoke. Good one, accompanied by easy to understand maps.

Yesterday he had The End is in Sight which included charts and graphs that might be a little, um, esoteric. (And a satellite photo which predicted the least coast being smoky.)

By the way, in case the whole COVID issue hasn't convinced anyone that "the models" are problematic, several of Professor Mass' blog posts this week have discussed why "the models" have failed to predict exactly what the hell is going on with this wildfire smoke with anything that comes close to accuracy, so maybe it's time we all realized that "the models" require a large enough dose of salt to be hazardous to our blood pressure...

...Among other things, many or most weather forecasting models fail to take the fact that wildfire smoke will reflect solar radiation, resulting in temperatures that are 20-30 degrees cooler than the forecasts produce.

*You may have heard of Professor Mass because he posted a blog post about the antifa domestic terrorist's rampage in Seattle, comparing one particular night's activities to Kristallnacht. This got him "cancelled". Otherwise respectable local journalists have declared that one should "never use a Nazi comparison". No matter how apt. And, presumably, especially if the subject is activity approved by the left.
The cancellation was literal, BTW, as he had a show on the local NPR station talking about the science of weather. "Had" being the operative word. He was already on thin ice due to a tendency to explain how and why the topic of conversation is not, in fact, caused by anthropogenic climate change.

A New Definition for "Chutzpah"

It used to be the guy that murdered his parents begging for leniency in sentencing, due to being an orphan.

Now it's the Director General of the World Health Organization saying we should have been listening to him all along...

Rumor Control -- Updated

Coronavirus Rumor Control | FEMA.gov

Naturally, there are those who immediately assume (!) that anything put out by FEMA is a lie.

Seriously, if you happen to find the Twitter thread in which FEMA lists these myths, don't read the comments.

I refrained from reading comments to this one:

Meanwhile, in Washington State...

Apparently, government assets are seizing consumer goods from store shelves...

And the response is to beg the governor to lock the entire state down.

Look, social distancing and all that is a good idea; as an introvert, it's what I do anyway. But The Roads Must Roll; as a Son of Martha myself, the idea that we should all just hunker down and let everything stop because the grasshoppers have succumbed to hysteria disgusts me.

(OK, too many literary allusions in there, sorry, not sorry.)

And part of why I tweeted

Do I really believe that one or more governors, possibly coordinated, decided "I know! I'll ruin the economy in the pretense of preventing the spread of the pandemic! That'll show that Bad Orange Man!"

No. They may think that what they're doing will really help, they may think they have to Do Something and this is all they can come up with, or maybe they think they have to be seen to Do Something, which is, after all, a common motivation for elected or appointed officials to Do Something Counterproductive and/or Stupid...

Although I do not rule out the possibility that the thought occurred to them that the bright side of a crash would be that Presidents are not usually re-elected when the economy turns bad.

UPDATE:  And just like that, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer make the question of "Would Democrats trash the economy to get Trump?" look a little more rational...

GOAL Post 2020-10 & Final

Up at this link, also linked over on the right side of the screen.

As usual, most bills did not make it to the governor's desk.
The bills that passed are HB 2467 (centralized firearm background checks), HB 2555 (background checks for receivers), HB 2622 (firearm surrender on court orders), SB 5434 (day care centers gun free zones) and SB 6288 (Office of Firearm Safety and Violence Prevention).

HB 2467 could be good or bad. 17 other states now conduct all or partial firearm background checks, and most seem to work smoothly (ATF calls them “point of contact” states. The biggest issue here is the $18 authorized for every check. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which conducts all background checks in that state, does it for $5 – more than today’s free FFL:NICS check but much less than $18. HB 2555 essentially mimics federal law – a receiver/frame is already a firearm under federal law. SB 5434, extending gun free zones to day care centers is overreach, but it does allow licensed carry under certain circumstances. And the Office of Firearm Safety and Violence Prevention is long on “firearm” and likely nonexistent on “safety” or “violence prevention” – unless our side gets active and seeks grants for safety education and criminology studies to identify who and where the violence is being committed (don’t hold your breath on that one – the FBI’s annual Uniform Crime Report has been telling you exactly who the “who” is for decades, and it has been ignored just as long).
The ban on standard capacity magazines died when the Republican delegation filed over 100 amendments.

Unfortunately, the repeal of the ban on "assisted opening" knives also did not pass.

Joe makes a point of naming the pro-gun, pro-Second Amendment, pro-freedom Democrats in  the state legislature:
One last point: we DO have some Democrat friends in Olympia. Senators Tim Sheldon, Dean Takko, Steve Hobbs and Kevin Van Dew Wege and Representatives Brian Blake, Mari Leavitt and Dave Paul. They have clearly demonstrated their loyalty to their oath of office despite caucus pressure in the other direction. Remember them in August for the primary and again in November.

GOAL Post 2020-8 is up

GOAL Post 2020-8, Legislative Update from Olympia 28 February 2020 - Gun Owners Action League of Washington

I haven't been posting these, since they are now regularly posted to that web site, and let's face it, I haven't been posting much at all.

Legislative season is almost over, although with the clown show Olympia has become it is no longer accurate to suggest that our money or freedom are safe if the legislature is not in session. We're talking about a state where the state tried to sue the voters for an initiative we passed, after all.

Berthold Brecht would have been right at home here.

Anyway. It sounds like most of the bills are dead, although, as Joe points out, these clowns are always willing to pull a Miracle Max on bills that should have died...
Plus there's always the possibility that Steyer and Bloomberg will finance another corrupt initiative to back an even worse law.

One good bill remains, that would remove the restriction on spring-assisted knives. I have a lot of respect for the late Glenn Ford, Capt. USNR (RET), but The Blackboard Jungle resulted in silly restrictions on knives you can open with one hand, which sounds like a minor inconvenience until you need both hands to do a job, and a third to access the tool you need to do it. ("No shit, there I was, 30 feet up a ladder...")

The majority of the rest of the remaining gun-related bills should die in a fire.

GOAL Post 2019-15

Joe sent out the latest GOAL Post last night, and reported that his ISP is acting up again/still, and since the report is still not on the web site, I'll go ahead and post it here. Usual rules, minor editing for formatting for the blog, not textual changes.

FWIW, here is my thought about a Special Session, mentioned by Joe: The Democrats in Olympia, as in Seattle, are unhappy that the state constitution prohibits an income tax being levied by either the state or a municipality. They are trying their hardest to impose at least a "millionaire tax" or pretending that a capital gains tax would not be a fancy name for a tax on income.

It should be noted that it has been reported that there's a budget surplus right now, and they have no actual plan to use the money they want to try and wring out of the people of Washington State, but they still think our income is rightfully theirs.

So if there's a special session, I think that the focus will be trying to get more blood from the turnip.

In other news, I received media credentials for the NRA Annual Meeting, so I guess I'd better practice pretending how to be all journalistic and stuff. Better yet, I'll ask questions and report what I see, instead of staying in the bar and making it up...

SUBJECT: GOAL Post 2019-15
Legislative Update from Olympia 19 April 2019
  • RALLY FOR YOUR RIGHTS
  • BILLS PASS, ONE DIES
  • CONCURRENCE VOTES
  • ONE MORE WEEK
  • SPECIAL SESSION LOOMS
  • BUMP STOCK WARNING
  • LATE DISSEMINATION
  • ON THE ROAD
A pro-gun “Rally for your Rights” will be held on the Capitol Campus on Saturday, 27 March at 12 noon.  A little late in the session, but still an opportunity to show your support. It IS on a Saturday. Try to make it and show them the gun lobby is not a paper tiger...

Several bills passed by the end of the second chamber cut-off on Wednesday evening.

House Bills 1465 (handgun delivery), 1739 (undetectable/untraceable firearms), 1786 (firearms/protective orders) and 1934 (military online/mail CPL renewal) all passed out of the Senate.  HB 1934 was rushed off to Governor Inslee for his signature.  The remainder await a concurrence vote or conference committee action because they were amended in the second chamber.  It’s not over yet!

Senate Bill 5782 (assisted-opening knives) died on the House floor without a vote.  What a surprise!
The Senate has concurred in House amendments to HBs 5027 (Extreme risk protection orders, under 18), 5181 (firearms/mental health) and 5205 (firearms/incompetence for trial).  All three are on their way to the governor.

There is one week left for the House and Senate to review difference between passed versions of the bills and kick them to the governor – or they die for the session.  That doesn’t mean they won’t be back next year… or in a week or two in a special session.  The regular legislative session ends at midnight on Sunday, 28 April.

It appears the Democrats who control the House and the Democrats who control the Senate can’t agree on how much to raise taxes for the biennium.  This means it is likely we will enter one or more 30-day special sessions until they get it sorted out.  Apparently there is no honor among thieves.  As the saying goes, neither you life nor your wallet are safe as long as the legislature is in session.

An individual with what appears to be a fictitious name, “Yati Arguna,” has sent a Public Records Act request to the State Patrol asking for the names and addresses of everyone who turned in a bump stock for cash compensation.  That’s about 1,000 individuals.  Unless a judge blocks the release (reasonable as a public safety measure), state law requires the names be released.  Who is behind this and where or how the information will be used remains to be seen.  Should one assume that anyone who turned in a bump stock has a Modern Sporting Rifle in their home?

I will likely hold off on posting next week’s GOAL Post until Sunday night (when I’ll be flying back from the NRA annual meeting in Indianapolis) or Monday, when we know for sure what passed and what died.  Recognize that in the event of a special session ALL BILLS from the previous regular session come alive again and may be considered, voted on, and passed.

The week after I’m off for Europe – allegedly.  I’ll be flying on an airline family pass, so it’s “space available” and any movement will depend on empty seats available AND my (very low) seniority number.  I sent my wife to visit family ten days ago, and now I have to go bring her back.  This living alone (not entirely alone, I have a Lab, but she doesn’t talk) isn’t all it’s cracked up to be when you’ve had a wife to spoil you for 50+ years now!

Should a special session be called, it is my intention to continue GOAL Post… all dependent on information being available to me wherever I am.  Historically they don’t use special sessions to drag back gun bills, so unless there’s a major gun incident, we should be safe.  Operative word “should.”

BILL STATUS/GOAL POSITION:

NRA-ILA: Washington: Legislation to Expand Gun-Free Zones to be Heard

NRA-ILA | Washington: Legislation to Expand Gun-Free Zones to be Heard
Next week, committees in the Washington State Legislature will be hearing legislation that would expand arbitrary zones where law-abiding citizens are left defenseless while nothing is done to hinder criminals.  On February 11th, the Senate Committee on Law & Justice will be hearing Senate Bill 5434 and on February 13th, the House Committee on Civil Rights & Judiciary will be hearing the companion House Bill 1530.  Please contact committee members and urge them to OPPOSE SB 5434 and HB 1530.  Click the “Take Action” button {"CLICK HERE link -- dwd} below to contact committee members.
Senate Bill 5434, sponsored by Senator Claire Wilson (D-30), and House Bill 1530, sponsored by Representative Lauren Davis (D-32), would increase the areas where law-abiding citizens are prohibited from possessing firearms, including holders of a Concealed Pistol License (CPL) carrying a handgun for self-defense.  It would turn child care facilities, libraries, public parks, and recreational facilities into “gun-free zones” where law-abiding citizens would be unable to defend themselves and their loved ones against criminals who simply ignore such arbitrary boundaries.  In addition, child care facilities would be required to post a “Gun-Free Zone” sign.

Again, please click the “Take Action” button {"CLICK HERE link -- dwd} above to contact committee members and urge them to OPPOSE SB 5434 and HB 1530.

In addition, House Bill 1465, sponsored by Representative Roger Goodman (D-45), HB 1645 will be heard by the House Committee on Judiciary on February 15th.  It would require CPL holders to undergo a state background check on handgun purchases instead of the instant NICS check that is currently being conducted as a courtesy by the FBI.  Unfortunately, beginning July 1st, the FBI will no longer be conducting these courtesy NICS checks for CPL holders.

Your NRA is actively working to find solutions that will continue to allow CPL holders to transfer firearms in a timely manner.  Please stay tuned for further updates on this issue.
The "Click Here" link above goes to the same place the "Take Action" button goes in the email alert and web page, but was easier than trying to embed the button...
