...and for once I was able to approach the gun counter without elbowing my way through a mob. And pulled the ticket and was the next customer. When they asked what I was looking for, I told them "10/22 Take-down" and was told "I'll go see if we have any." "There's one right behind you." "What?! Where did that come from?!" Other counter guy: "Oh, we got 15 or so in while you were at lunch."
Crummy cell phone pics, for now.
Comes with this nifty bag, with some PALS webbing on the lower pocket. D-rings on the back so you can use it as a backpack. Ratbane checks out the new acquisition.
The pieces. The bright stickers peel off with no residue, thank Ghu.
Assembled.
Receiver end.
Chamber/barrel extension.
There's a box, there must be a cat. Ratbane checks it out.
The day was not perfect. I paid $4.179 a gallon for gas on the way home, and saw someone who had managed to flip their sedan, make and model no longer discernible, onto it's roof, just up the road from the gas station.

Very nice - did they have one with a threaded muzzle?
Not that I saw, and I'm not sure it's a factory option. There was speculation on Shooters Northwest about having it done, though. Be pretty handy.
Those things are very slick. I looked at one in St. Louis, and I've had a hankering for one ever since.
On sale @ Cabela's thru the weekend...
When I was a kid I wanted an AR7 Explorer so bad I could taste it. Dad wouldn't get me one. Later, as it went through the evolution of manufacturers, I kept hearing bad things about the magazines.
Then I was going to get a Marlin papoose.
So I got this, instead...
Like! Want! Might have to go to Lacey tomorrow morning...
thanks for the inspiration

Mentioned to a friend he told me it took Cabela's an -hour- to get his paperwork done for a sale. Did you have a better experience? I will report back!

Wait for "paperwork" was maybe 15 minutes. The process is entirely electronic, the first 5 minutes or so was me sitting at a computer and answering questions. Waited a bit, they called me and I "signed" the electronic pad--like signing for a credit card transaction--and it was mine. The longest part was running out to the car to get my registration, when we moved to Neue Schloss Drang I changed my address online but was too cheap to spring for a new DL. Needed a gov't. issued ID with current PHYSICAL address on it...
Besides, it's Cabela's, it's not like I couldn't find something to do...
I came within 9 millimeters of pulling the trigger on buying one in early April, when I saw one for sale at the Fort We-Gotcha PX. Sadly, my budget at the time could only support buying one Ruger product, and I decided to spring for the LC9 I wanted (the LC9 is also hard to find, so I don't feel I made too much of an error in judgement).
I considered going to the Ft Lewis--excuse me, "Joint Base Lewis McChord", ptui!--PX to see if they had it, but passed. Oddly, lunch time at Cabela's Lacey store is always crawling with guys in UCP and MultiCam.
Well I made it by the store, and did some shopping and lots of drooling and was so close on the takedown -- but caught myself before spending, I have some "cause I want it" stuff as is, and not enough completeness on my "cause I might need it stuff" (for example, I'm short an ACOG, and need spare .. well, you get the idea). I do hope to have a takedown someday, but passed it up for now. Thanks for the feeback on making purchases there!
