The Art Of The Headline

The Rumford Meteor is justifiably famous for its headlines.  A small town newspaper in Maine, the stories are usually of the sort you might expect see in such a newspaper, with the twist that a story on, say, a house fire will have a headline that reads

"Resume Speed Fire Department's 'Save The Basement' Strategy works again!"

One variation ran

"Resume Speed Fire Department's 'Save The Basement' Strategy Would Have Worked, If Trailors Had Basements!"

So their response to a Maine best-selling author coming out in favor of gun control might have been predictable:

Stephen King, Who Lives In A Mansion Paid For By A Book And Movie That Gleefully Depicts A Misfit Murdering Everyone In The Local School Over Taunts, Tries His Hand At Writing Humor And Says The NRA Is To Blame For Sandy Hook | The Rumford Meteor
