See, this is shaping up--already has, actually--as a year when folks who believe in firearms rights hold their nose to vote for the lesser evil.
John McCain has not exactly established himself as One Of Us. The whole gun show loophole (doesn't exist), the "Campaign Finance" deal (violates First Amendment)... Hardly our favorite. Still having a hard time imagining speaking at the annual NRA Convention.
Then again, look at the other (more-or-less realistic, serious) choices.
There's the whole Obama "bitterly clinging to their guns" thing, and then Clinton claiming to have spent mornings in a duck blind with Daddy.
Now Obama claims that he believes in “common-sense gun laws so that we don’t have kids being shot on the streets of cities like Chicago.”
Someone--perhaps John Lott?--should point out to Senator Obama that it would be very difficult, to say the least, for Chicago to have more strict gun laws.
