But is it news...?

Headline from the Detroit Free Press online:
Agents find suspected meth lab at Detroit home

One man is in custody today after he was arrested Wednesday when authorities discovered an alleged crystal methamphetamine lab at his residence.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were executing an arrest and search warrant at about 2 p.m. at a home on the 93000 block of Ward in northwest Detroit.

I mean, I hate to bash my hometown...

Oh, why lie, everyone from Detroit has a story about why they're from Detroit, and not still living there. We're almost as bad as people from California that way. Only better, 'cause we're not from California. Or Ohio. (Did you hear the one about the Wolverine who moved to Ohio, and raised the average IQ in both states...?)

Anyway, I recall the story about how the Detroit Police reported to a house fire in the Del Rey neighborhood--as bad as they got--to find some guys standing across the street watching it burn, and they all had gas cans at their feet. Officer Friendly says "Nice fire" and the guys say "Yeah, that'll teach 'em to run a crack house on our block" and Officer F. says "Uh, guys.." and they say "No, go ahead, read us our rights, we did it, but good luck finding a jury that'll convict..."

The story further claims they were cited for playing with matches or something, but then, it's just a story...

From Detroit.

"Forget it, Jake. It's Detroit."

(Apologies to Robert Towne.)
