"What Is Wisdom?"

Professor Hanson offers a masterfull-as usual!-- summing up of the whole Sarah Palin/"It Came From Wasilla!" issue.

His conclusion:

I’ve found it was harder to calibrate an old spray rig (without getting Parquat ['liquid death' we used to call it] up your nose and Simazine down your pants), with a shot roller pump and worn nozzles. It took some skill to put one pound (and only one pound) of Parquat and Simazine per acre on a two-foot-wide vineyard berm, correcting for tractor speed, wind, leaks, pump idiosyncrasies, soil conditions-knowing that too much preemergent herbicide gives you sick vines, and too little, weeds–than it was to do an apparatus criticus of 200 lines of the Greek text of Aeschylus’s Suppliants-all things, of course, being considered.

Sorry for the ‘either/or’ reductive binary: but I saw more stupid people in graduate school and three decades in academia than I ever did who ran 100 acres without going broke-and more of the latter whom I’d trust not to bankrupt the country and let down our defenses than of the former.

I find the explanation of her resignation convincing: That she was spending 80% of her time dealing with the death-of-a-thousand cuts nuisance lawsuits, all of which she won, but which left she and Todd $500,000 in debt, and cost the State of Alaska two million dollars, not to mention the emotional cost to her family of the ankle-biting libtard media. She was not able to govern effectively, so end it. Having decided to end it, why play it out? Sure, a Lame Duck has certain advantages, but there's that 80% thing again.

I'd say I'll miss her, but I doubt that the media are going to leave her alone. Palin Derangement Syndrome is making Bush Derangement Syndrome look like a mild cold. While I don't share her faith, I have to say that here was the first politician in years that I felt that I could sit and talk to and we would be on the same wavelength. I think a lot of people felt the same thing; thus the left's instinctive hatred of her.

And, let's face it, anyone who sends the state-run media off the deep end like that, is All Right in my book.
