Sounds like a History Channel special!

"Mongols v. Afghans!"

Check out those dress uniforms!
Photo from Foreign Policy Blog: Mongolia joins the fight in Afghanistan, where it is pointed out that the Mongols have an advantage over most western nations when it comes to training Afghans, as the Mongols use the same 50s, 60s, and 70s era gear the Afghans are used to using.

Original h/t to Opfor (OPFOR: They Deploy By The Horde), where they are pondering the proper word for a group of Mongols. I think they found the obvious, best choice.  I assume the following bit from LTC P's post was tongue-in-cheek:
(On) the second or third day due to an unfortunate mistranslation of the hours for the mess hall, they ate all the food, carried off everything of value, then burned the place to the ground. The new CG thanked them for the zeal with which they are applying themselves to the task at hand, but asked that they refrain henceforth from that age-old (and otherwise admirable) practice.
Having been in mess halls which were assaulted by ravenous hordes of GIs just in from the field, the new Cg is obviously (from his restraint) familiar with the phenomenon...

If the Mongols run off with Astan, do we get our people back? And yes, those dress uniforms are rather stunning.
