Membership in subversive organizations is a felony, and the communist party is specifically mentioned--in it's own section--as being a subversive organization.
A "Subversive Organization ", BTW, is defined as
...any organization which engages in or advocates, abets, advises, or teaches, or a purpose of which is to engage in or advocate, abet, advise, or teach activities intended to overthrow, destroy or alter, or to assist in the overthrow, destruction or alteration of, the constitutional form of the government of the United States, or of the state of Washington, or of any political subdivision of either of them, by revolution, force or violence.Take heart,

The prosecutors who would be responsible for looking into this are probably as liberal as the members of these groups, so I doubt they'd look into it.
I'd say keep a copy of this handy for reference. It may come in useful someday.
