Apparently it came from a South Park episode--a show I don't watch.

But wait! There's more! The song was originally posted directly to YouTube by "Good man Ray", who sings a pretty mean Delta Blues, if I do say so. (Link goes to him telling the story behind the song, as well as singing it. There are other versions all gussied up with musical accompaniment.)
But, in trying to find out more about it, I clicked on a "Man Ray" thing--not my cup of tea--and then discovered that the Starz Channel is working on a series to be called Spartacus: Blood and Sand.
Sigh.
So, in addition to mangling history--again--by defaming a pretty good--though also ahistorical--movie, they are also going to steal the title of a classic Rudolph Valentino/Tyrone Power (in the remake) movie.
I admit my outrage is tempered by the fact that we do not get, and will in all probability never pay for, the Starz Channel.
