Tax Day Tea Party 2010, Part 2

The updated schedule for Tea Party events in Washington State is here.

Liberty Belle's email re: the Olympia/Seattle combined event follows:

Tax Day Tea Party 2010!
Hello! It is my sincere pleasure to invite each and every one of you to 2010's Tax Day Tea Parties! There are so many good people working hard to create great events, and if you can, I recommend going to two if possible! Sally has done a fabulous job of collecting all of the info about various tea parties, so rather than list them all here, making this a very long email, I would like to point you toward http://teapartywa.org/TaxDay2010.php.

In this email, I will list the "Tea for Two" tea parties in Olympia and Seattle, as most of the recipients on my list live in those areas. But please don't forget to check out http://teapartywa.org/TaxDay2010.php to find a tea party in your own area. Other tea parties that we know of will be taking place in Anacortes, Bellevue, Bellingham, Everett, Moses Lake, Okanogan, Prosser, Sequim, Snohomish, Spokane, Tri-Cities/Richland, Walla Walla, Clarkston/Lewiston, and Yakima.

Make sure to scroll through for the special notes on safety and signs!

Safety

Because of the tea party movement's incredible growth and passion, we have become a force in American politics. Due to this, our rallies this year will be attended by media and I am guessing, by counter protesters. I am working closely with the Seattle Police Department, and the Pierce County Tea Party organization is working closely with Capitol Police to ensure your safety and your family's safety. We aim to have a safe, fun, patriotic event, and the police are well aware of all plans to disrupt.

A special note about the possible disruptors: There has been a lot of internet chatter about infiltrating our crowd holding racist signs or making horrible and racist comments to the media in order to discredit our movement -  the racism they wish existed does not actually exist so they must therefore MAKE IT UP! - because we command attention and we are getting things done, and since they have no facts or logic to win their arguments, they are resorting to lies, slander, and outright fraud. Are you surprised? I'm not.

THE SOLUTION: If you see someone with a racist sign, someone acting in a suspicious manner, or someone trying to provoke or instigate violence, please be sure to let one of our security personnel know and they will liason with the Police, or if you are near a Police Officer, let them know directly. And remember, if a disruptor near you starts yelling something awful, the best retort is to chant, and here are some good ones:

"USA!! USA!!"
"Repeal and Replace! Repeal and Replace!"
"No new taxes! No new taxes!"
"What do we want? Freedom! When do we want it? NOW!"
"Remember in November! Remember in November!"

Please DO NOT respond to any provocation by the left. We are principled and law abiding people, and they seek to bring us down to their level when they try to provoke negative reactions from us. If someone attempts to provoke you, just ignore them and get back to the event, or better yet, film them being obnoxious. Remember, the Police are there for a reason - to ensure our safety and to enforce our permit - so please let them do their job and you enjoy the events!

Also, if you have a camera of any sort, please bring it and use it!! The best defense we have against the lies and provocations are our cameras. Citizen journalists unite!!

Sign Ideas

If you are looking for sign ideas, there are 101 great ones at http://bit.ly/EKv1c, which are actually ideas from last year, but they still work! There are more at http://bit.ly/2yTPwX and at the Tea Party Patriots website at http://bit.ly/aE3od1.

If you have any questions at all, please contact me at redistributingknowledge@gmail.com or Sally at sally.oljar@gmail.com.

This year's Tax Day Tea Party promises to be bigger and better than last year's and we want to see all of your smiling faces there! It is going to be an incredible day! Thank you for joining us!

About counter-protesters/disruptors/anarchists/Purple People Beaters:  While I will be armed for self-defense, and I expect that anyone who regularly reads this blog would be as well, it is always best to avoid or defuse a confrontation before it can escalate.  Ignore anyone trying to goad you into a confrontation, especially if it seems that "they" could use it for purposes contra our goals.  If you see someone near you getting into a shouting match, help them out--out of the situation.  DO NOT. however, do so by trying to intimidate or threaten, or appear to threaten, violence against their antagonist.

Last year a young man "open carried" at the Tax Day Tea Party in Seattle; with "OC" becoming such a political football this year I, personally, would advise against it.

Do not play into "The Narrative"!

That is, do not give the Left or the Media--but I repeat myself--any ammunition to feed the common prejudices or disinformation about "Tea Partiers."
