Veeeeery interesting...

Thread on AR15.com pointed me to this article on Vuurwapen Blog in which, back in 1982, the GAO shredded the rationale the DoD used to justify replacing the M1911 in .45 ACP with a 9mm pistol.

I especially like DoD claiming that the 1911 was too big, considering that the Beretta 92FS/M9 is bigger and bulkier.
