Make that "The Project For This Morning."
Mrs. Drang has complained in the past about having to make a choice when it came to watching "her show" and going out to the kitchen to prepare one of her lavish gourmet meals. At
Alt Schloss Drang, it would have been difficult, if not impossible, to install a TV in the kitchen; here at
Neue Schloss Drang there's space under the cabinets on either side of the stove, and a jack for the satellite feed on the other side of the pass-through to the family room...

19" LCD Monitor and under-cabinet mount, before installation.
Note Tyvek bag monitor came in, protecting stove top... |

The corner... |

Checking fit. |
|
The instructions said to use the mount itself as the template for drilling.
I'm not that flexible, so I made my own... |
|
Kit uses these nifty flat top, pronged bolts to screw the mount to.
They hammer into the top of the shelf, mount screws in from bottom.
Very little intrusion on topside;
some of that nubbly Rubbermade shelf liner smooths it right out. |
|
Step one of checking to see if holes are lined up right... |
|
Looks like it. |

Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares is hardly my favorite viewing, but I'm sure Top Gear will be along shortly... |

That's a good TV wall mount in the kitchen. For sure Mrs.Drang will not miss watching her favorite TV show again while preparing a meal.
The final install probably should have been about 2 inches to the left. When rotated all the way to the right, the edge of the monitor hits the cabinet. (Does not occlude the door, though.)
I think I was trying to avoid having the screen over the stove...
So who was taking advantage of this last night, while Open Range was on?
I'll tell ya', makes getting up for another beer a lot less painfull...
