Gun Porn

I don't often do "gun porn" posts, so, when I do, I try to make it a good one:  As I was driving in  to the Salt Mines yesterday, a column of Army vehicles was  heading southbound back to Ft Lewis Joint Base Lewis-McChord. (ptui!)  This is not an un-common occurrence.  It was, however, the first time I'd seen one of these:
Stryker M1128 Mobile Gun System (Wikipedia).
This is the vehicle the Army wanted for the Motorized Division back when I was a Spec 4!  If we'd had this when I was a Light Fighter...

BTW, I'm pretty sure this is the "brilliant" topic I Grumbled about forgetting yesterday; passed another convoy on the way in again today--MGS-less--and remembered it.

Pretty cool. I wonder if they ever figured out a way around the problem of the vehicle tipping over if the gun is fired at a target 90 degrees off of the axis of motion.

And it doesn't look that light to me.

Lighter than an Abrams...

From the videos, the thing rocks when the gun is fired at 90 degrees, so they probably have to make sure they're on level ground. Not sure how that applies when shooting on the move.
