GOAL Post 2015-Special-7

As you might gave deduced from my last couple of posts, I've been out of town and didn't get to this Friday when it was sent out.

Not that there's much news anyway...
(Not that I'm complaining...)

SUBJECT: GOAL Post 2015-Special-7
Legislative Update from Olympia 19 June 2015

  • NO ACTION
  • DEMS DEMAND NEW TAXES
  • REPUBLICANS HOLD FIRM, NO NEW TAXES
  • SECOND SPECIAL SESSION ENDS NEXT SATURDAY
  • 26,000 STATE EMPLOYEES TO BE FURLOUGHED

No action on the budgets this week.  Democrats are holding out for new taxes, Republicans are holding firm on their balanced budget submission.  Which side will blink first?  Democrats are confident, if state government shuts down, the Republicans will take the blame.

The Second Special Session ends next Saturday.  If no budget agreement is reached, approximately 26,000 "non-essential" state employees will be furloughed.  If they're designated "non-essential," why are they there in the first place?

Interesting times ahead.
