"If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: Never underestimate the resilience of a lycanthrope"
Detective Vince Korsak, Boston PD
(Actor Bruce McGill, Rizzoli & Isles)
It's kind of a fun show, on TNT.

They're running a marathon, and I took the day off for an unscheduled semi-emergency trip to the dentist.

One episode -- the one that produced the quote above, in fact -- pissed me off , though. Lazy script writing: There are no taggants in gunpowder.

This is proposed from time to time by statists who want to make life as difficult as possible for shooters, hunters, etc., but it turns out that no one has been able to figure out how to put a "taggant' in gunpowder (or explosives, for that matter, military or commercial) without rendering the gunpowder either completely inert or dangerously unstable.

I wonder sometimes whether the people writing this stuff are clueless, or if their devotion to their agenda/The Narrative overcomes the fact that, among other things, taggants, micro-etching, "firing pin tracking", "case etching", etc. are just so much bunk.

I get that whether the bullets match or not is dependent on the needs of the story, but at least try and make the story match the facts.

My favorite TV "expertise" is when the detective/medical examiner/other expert sees the wound in the victim and declares "that's a wound from a Glock 19".

Wow...you can tell the manufacturer of the firearm from the hole the projectile made? That IS impressive.

Hell, "You can tell the caliber just by looking?"
