ENOUGH ALREADY!

Another Winter Storm Watch. Up to six inches of snow, possibly turning to rain sometime Wednesday afternoon. Oh, joy.

So, the buses are still running inclement weather schedules, but since I have today off I volunteered to drive Mrs. Drang in to work.

Reminded me of the trip back when Mrs. Drang first started seeing each other almost 20 (!) years ago: no one was on the road.

Not that I blame them: The city of Seattle and Mayor McCheese are talking big talk about keeping the roads clear, but except for I5, the roads in Seattle are still covered with snow, ice, and a combination thereof. "We're working on the arterials." Um, what I was driving on were arterials.

Heard a weather person, or something, on the radio discussing her bus ride to work in detail. Normal 20-25 minute ride took two hours. All kinds of folks who usually drive taking bus, and "I must warn you, in this weather homeless people ride the bus and yesterday's ride home smelled so strongly of urine we could hardly breath." Welcome to the big city...

Wondering how many of the California imports we've had to deal with will be pulling pitch and leaving now. Alas, all too few, no doubt. (They can take a few Chicagoans with them. Mayor McCheese and Seattle PD Chief Gil "Where's my gun?" Kerlikowske among them.)

Edited to add: This article, courtesy Anthony, is priceless. Gaia forbid we should risk adding to the salt that's already in Puget Sound!

"We decided not to utilize salt because it's not a healthy addition to Puget Sound."

Right. Salt is so bad for salt water...

The new official symbol of the City of Seattle: The watermelon. (You know, green on the outside, red on the inside...)
