Too little, too late

Refer to this post, here, as well as others elsewhere.

Referring to View From The Porch, The View From North Central Idaho, and others, I learn that HS Precision has realized they goofed.

To Our Valued Customers:

H-S Precision has received comments relating to individual testimonials in our 2008 catalog. All of the testimonials focused on the quality, accuracy and customer service provided by H-S Precision.

The management of H-S Precision did not intend to offend anyone or create any type of controversy. We are revising our 2009 catalog and removing all product testimonials.

Sincerely,

The Management of H-S Precision

Y'know, it's one thing to use a phrase you don't realize some might find offensive, it's another entirely to say something that any nitwit would know was reasonably likely to cause offense.

It's one thing to say something questionable when you're live and unrehearsed, another to run the stuff by your advertising copy editors and still publish an endorsement by an individual that one of the pre-eminent personages of your own industry has been reminding people is at large, and should not be.

Clearly, no one at HS Precision read Jeff Cooper's Commentaries, which I find incredible, considering the line they're in...

EDIT: LawDog sums the entire situation up quite neatly, including the best summary of the events leading up to Horiuchi being pretty much universally vilified in the Community of Bitter Clingers.
