No grass growing underfoot there...

Courtesy of Tam, I learn that His Imperial Majesty Barack Hussein Obama the First has already had the following posted on Whitehouse.gov:
Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.
From wikipedia:

Tiahrt Amendment
(Representative Todd) Tiahrt is the author of the Tiahrt Amendment, which prohibits the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) from releasing information from its firearms trace database to anyone other than a law enforcement agency or prosecutor in connection with a criminal investigation. Additionally, any data so released is inadmissible in a civil lawsuit.

It does NOT prevent "local law enforcement" from getting the data they need on guns and gun owners.

Not that it's a surprise that a couple of political hacks are lying sacks of shit, but there you are.

The "gunshow loophole"? Evidently, it's that private citizens without a Federal Firearms License are allowed to sell their private property without being required to access the Instant Background Check system, something that anyone BUT an FFL holder is prohibited from doing. MAybe if the Clinton Administration hadn't targeted folks who held FFLs as part of their hobbies (i.e., they were not running a "brick-and-mortar" business)

By the way, the Federal Bureau of Investigation says that less than 1% of guns used by criminals are "acquired" at gun shows.

"Child proofing guns": Say what? How can you do that without making said guns difficult or even dangerous to use? How many people have to die to "save the children"?

Assault Weapon Ban: Did no good, the FBI admits it made no differance in crime rates, the streets did not run red with blood after it expired, but cash registers did ring. (And boy, are they ringing now! Cuz, you know what? All us bitter clingers? We knew this was coming!)
