Ooops!

Apparently, during his Portsmouth, NH, town hall meeting, His Imperial Majesty said
"We have the AARP onboard because they know this is a good deal for our seniors." He added, "AARP would not be endorsing a bill if it was undermining Medicare."
Alas for The One,
...Tom Nelson, AARP's chief operating officer, said, "Indications that we have endorsed any of the major health care reform bills currently under consideration in Congress are inaccurate."
From The Politico, by way of Urgent Agenda.

By the way, Liberty Belle points us at an alternative to the AARP, AMAC.

For many years, there was only one senior organization.

Today, The Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) is here to protect your interests, and to offer an alternative perspective on how to best solve the problems seniors face today. AMAC will be on your side when it comes to fighting high taxes, which are especially harmful to those living on a fixed income. You can count on AMAC to speak
out to preserve the values that helped make America a great nation. AMAC is not afraid to say we still believe in God and Country.

We are the new senior organization.

AMAC was developed for anyone age
50 or above, and to provide discounts not available anywhere else.

I almost got myself declared persona non grata among Mrs. Drang's relatives who are members of The Greatest Generation one day; we were comparing AARP junk mail stories with her cousin, when his daughter asked "What is the AARP, anyway?" and I said "A bunch of socialists who want your money."
