Legislative Update from
Olympia 12 June 2015
- SKIPPED LAST WEEK
- HALFWAY THROUGH THE SECOND SPECIAL SESSION
- NO APPARENT PROGRESS ON THE BUDGET
- A LITTLE ACTION IN THE HOUSE
- STATE SHUTDOWN?
Today is the halfway point of
the second special session. There has
been no visible movement on the budget impasse.
Most days there is only a pro forma session -- rap the gavel, convene,
set the time of the next gathering, rap the gavel and adjourn for the day. Thursday the House passed a handful of bills,
but nothing to do with firearms... or with the budget.
If no budget is passed, on 1
July non-essential state employees will be furloughed. Your guess is as good as mine as to whether
or not that would be an improvement. It would certainly impose a hardship on those
employees and especially their families.
