Curmudgeonry, Cinematic

WatchingThe Quiet Man, and I can't help but think that
  1. This is one movie that could not possibly be re-made today, and
  2. If they did, the credits would have to include the line "No redheads were harmed in the making of this film."

You could say the same about the 1960 take off "McClintock", too.

I just watched this wonderfully movie for the bazillionth time. I can imagine the multitude of comments pointing out the hypocrisy of the men of the cloth, the 'violence of an oppressive patriarchy' so established that even the women advocate that O'Hara's character be beaten, or that a 'lawless' status quo be maintained (as witnessed by the several references to the IRA). Too, what horror that a privileged minority is not represented! THAT must be changed!
